Introduction to the 4-GR Project

Four Great Rivers Nature Preserve project (4-GR project) is an entironment protection project that is cooperated between Future Generations foundation, USA and Science and Technology Department of Tibet autonomy region , China, stared in 1997. Four Great Rivers are the Jin-sha-jiang River, the Lan-chang-jiang river, the Nu-jiang River, and the Ya-lu-zang-bu-jiang river. The project is cover Linzhi area and Chamdo area, which are in the southeast Tibet.

What's the Project

4-GR Project is an allround project that help local people to improve education, skill of work, condition of health etc.then make a large increase of action from local people protecting environment.

Significance of doing the Project

4-GR Project is one of the demonstration projects which have a great significance for protecting Tibetan environment with international funds,technology, and management.

Progress of the Project

In 1997, the project was started. since that to now, we finished the Master Plan, inviting governors to visit, and training managers.

In 2000, we started to do some small projects such as health drinking water project, GIS supervising 4-GR project, yellow peony survey project,education in community project etc.
